Journey Within - Through My Camera
Walking through Poland after being away for many years, I took a 4x5 camera I built from wood and brass and started photographing whatever felt familiar or pulled something from memory. Before returning, the first two frames I ever fired with this camera were made back in England: a self‑portrait in a biker suit shot through a mirror with my motorcycle behind me, and a quiet landscape where a cyclist passed at the perfect accidental moment.
In Poland, I moved through towns and landscapes I once knew, noticing small details and unexpected encounters. The camera isn’t perfect, and I didn’t try to hide that. The light leaks, softness, and small defects became part of how I saw the place again, and part of trying to reconnect with a country that feels both close and distant.
